Great ElSato 2006-02-10 9:45

Hi Jennifer,

I agree that you've got a good contrast here, but I'm seeing it a bit differently from the others, who see the figures in front as waiting for someone to arrive.

To me the contrast is between the man and woman in the ad, who are about as intimate as you can get in an advertisement, and the man and woman on the sidewalk, who are both standing still, looking away from one another.

The people on the sidewalk might be strangers who are waiting for others to arrive, but I see them as a couple who've had an argument, or who are going through a difficult time with each other. Now they're feeling uncomfortable, standing apart from each other, refusing to look at one another.

In the dream world of advertising: closesness, skin on skin, romantic and erotic happiness.

In the real world: distance, discomfort, difficulty, not even touching with their gaze.

My only suggestion for improvement is a that I think the image should be rotated slightly to the right because it looks a little tilted. If it were a larger, artistic tilt I'd keep it, but in this case I think it would look better straightened out.

Anyway, that's a small point. Very nicely seen.

Lee
