Default How Google Earth could be used..

This blog entry is about a nice placemark collection that puts Arthus-Bertrand into context using Google Earth.

http://www.gearthblog.com/blog/archives/2005/11/matching_photos.html

please, please, please let us enter those coordinates on TE.

regards
Adrian

I think integrating TE to Google Earth would be a great idea.

In the meantime, it is possible to make your own link to do this.

I have added a Google Earth link to my Kangamiut photo as an experiment. Opening the link will run Google Earth and show the photo location and orientation.

It is already in a test at TE.

Go to your PROFILE MANAGE section . See too that the adressing of your photo is correct and that the CITY will be identical to one of the defined places at the google map (http://www.tageo.com/index.htm).

If this is done right you will to the right of the CITY name see a tag:

[Map]

Klick this and the Google map pops up.

I guess the function will be introduced later on when opening a photo.

(You better go and check in your manage section - and if you do not see the MAP tag - then check out the CITY adress as mentioned above.)

Hmmm....
Did not work for me.
I opened one of my Tallinn photos - it is totally listed as a place in tageo.com.
No[map] popped up for me :(

What did I do wrong?

Maybe because the official 2nd level administrative division doesn't match what is on TE? When doing a lookup, this is checked as well, which means it won't work for some countries. The 'state' divisions would need to be changed to correspond with these values.

A new Map feature have appear since 3 or 4 days.
I very easy to use it : Just enter the latitude and longitude as decimal value.
However, this feature don't work perfectly with some countries (I am posting picts from Chile, Bolivia).
Why ? No map is available !
Looking better the map window I discovered 3 buttons: Map, Satellit, Hybrid.
If I click on the Satellit button, Satellit view appear.
Why do not the Hybrid feature as standard, when you click on the Map link ?
Sorry for my poor English

..which can be done by adding map.setMapType(G_HYBRID_TYPE); to the JavaScript (just to save Adam some work looking it up ;-)

Now I'm waiting for the proximity feature, that lists other geo-coded shots within a certain range... yes, give us an inch and we will take a mile :-D

greets
Adrian
