To jean113: probably petals

Thank you Jean,
I also first thought it was rice, or maybe some other kind of grain, but now I rather believe he was selling petals of some flower, to be used for garlands, like those the lady in...

To ifege: dhoti

Thank you Ian,
Sorry, I forgot to reply to your question. Those men were wearing ordinary 'dhotis', a traditional loincloth wrapped like a sarong and in this case clearly folded to become shorter....

To GyurMaster: storage

Thank you György,
'Reasonably cool, dark and dry' should be enough. My few colour negatives have not been so carefully stored and have faded miserably, but maybe films for slides were generally...

To PaulVDV: movie?

Thank you Paul,

There have been several movies called "Mother India", Or "Bharat Mata", since the 1930's and onwards.

But they all refer to this:
"Bhārat Mātā (Sanskrit: भारताम्बा, romanized:...

To COSTANTINO: taxi

Thank you Costantino,
Yes, it is a kind of cheap and simple taxi, mainly used for short distances. They are found all over India and most other countries in Asia.

Gert

Thank you Paul,
I am sure you are right concerning the location of these photos. The northern tip of the main island has all the sights worth seeing. Looking at the Google map I get a feeling it is...

The reporter mentioned the nice old central district but described most of the city as consisting of mainly "grey concrete". ;-)

Some years ago a wolf was photographed running down one of the main streets of Södermalm in the night. And I have actually seen rats in the courtyard of my house!

To jean113: wood or stone?

Thank you Jean,
I'm not really sure of the material of the ceilings but I would suppose they are made of the same stone as everything else here. I just found an interesting information that all...

So you actually celebrated the arrival of the new century and millennium during the night to 1 January 2001? Did you stubbornly refuse any celebration of the year 2000? ;-)

To PaulVDV: nandu

Thank you Paul,
My diary mentions "a huge black stone cow cut out of one rock" in the middle of the courtyard, but strangely I have no pictures. Maybe the light wasn't good.

That small piece of...

Thank you Mariusz,

No, I wasn't aware of this possibility, but it's very interesting. Grey and unremarkable in 2012, so maybe also in 2014.

I have only noticed many times that travelling along...

To Royaldevon: attention

Thank you Bev,
I should say, in defence of the students, that they had been there quite a long time and may have been excused for losing attention. Perhaps I took the photo at an unfortunate moment...

To PaulVDV: my personal opinion

Thank you Paul,
I don't particularly like those towers either, so that's why I was anxious to point out that they were designed by a Dutch company. Blaming foreigners. ;-)
