I nearly always set the aperture manualy. This time I did a lousy job regarding this, so I had to do some extra bluring in PS.

I'm using Photoshop CS.
To increase contrast: Darken the shadows without distroying shadow details. Lighten the highlights without burning out whites.
The saturation was only made on the cyan color...

I have pushed up the saturation on the orange/yellow parts. I've done that to increase the depth and overall contrast of the image.

...and my monitor is sharp as a knife. I have a Samsung 193T (19" LCD) Over sharpening is very visible on a bright LCD monitor.
