Essential filters...
In my experience the following filters are pretty essential in that they can't really be duplicated in post production using photoshop. Whether or not you'll find them essential to own depends very...

To danielswalsh: Rusting tripod legs
Thanks Dan,
Re the tripod legs rusting... I don't! I clean them with fresh water when I get back but it doesn't seem to make much difference. Need to get a new tripod soon, that saltwater just...

To Dyerco: Backwash
Thanks Phil,
I tried both the canon 10-22 and the sigma 10-20mm and in my view the canon is the best... but not for the price!
I think the sigma is a stunning lens for what it costs, I'm really...

Re: To Keitht: Black Rock
I'm not sure if you can say that a seascape with an extreme depth of field is a 'style' - if it is then it can be applied to a vast number of photographers across the world!
Much as I like Adams...

To vbourrut: Foam Flecked - tilted?
Hi Vincent,
I suspect it's an optical illusion due to the waves coming in from the left that make you think it's tilted. The actual horizon is perfectly level - trust me, I just checked!

To brandstaetter: Stones on the beach..!
Thanks Chris, must confess I'm as guilty as any for the ol' stones on a beach shot!
If we had fishing ports like this near where I live I'd certainly take more shots like it :-)

To sonkai: Staithes Harbour
Hi Sonsoles,
There were a couple of boats in the main harbour - out of shot on the left, but most had presumably gone out to sea.

To fijiphil: hand-held?
Thanks Phil,
Yes, hand held it - but I was kneeling and had lent against a wall as well, so was fairly stable.

To baba_flies: Four Straight, One Bent
Hi Barbara,
And there was me hoping no one would notice! ;-)
I'm thinking I might go back to this location in the next few days - thought it might be nice if I had one shot for winter, spring,...

To scalerman: Cokins
Thanks Caleb,
This is pretty near the colour I saw - I only had one filter on, so the colour cast was minimal.
Mind you, I've upgraded to a set of Lee grads now, so the days of the cokin skies...

To corniste: corrected perspective
Hi Jean,
Thanks for your critique, but as I said in the description I have purposely not corrected for perspective and lens distortion in this one - I think it adds to the drama and fits in with...

To johnfreeman: Contrails...
Hi John,
I've got to admit I'm undecided on the contrail - I don't usually like changing anything in the shot... but it does spoil it a bit doesn't it?

To trabuio: Colour cast
Thanks Paolo,
No, you're not wrong - it's the dreaded magenta colour cast from using Cokin filters!
