Hi Jose,

For the first part of your question, I may help you.
First I never ignore a "report problem" but sometimes I am away... Or there is a problem with contacting us. But I read this forum as often as possible, so... If you want some locations be changed please go on... ;)

For the second part, this is something for IB tech team and Paul O'Brien will certainly take care of answering your suggestions.

Bonsoir Viviane,

Thank you for your quick reply. Perhaps my ignored reports were from some years ago (I was absent for 5 years ). I am happy that that doesn't happen any more.

What do you mean by "For the first part of your question, I may help you"? You mean that there is a kind of permission or available tool to certain users that allow those operations and you or someone will give me that? Or do you mean that you or someone else will process any request that I make? If the answer is the latter, although it is better than nothing it is far from practical, as it requires us both far more trouble than if I made the corrections directly by myself.

I am glad that someone will take care of the corrections on the subdivisions of Morocco.

Amicalement, José.

Bonjour José,

I understand that... I have made such corrections by sending whole lists to Adam for at least a whole year before he gave me the right tools... 10 years ago! :)

I suggest you send me just one whole corrected list of one single location and then I will see that you may get the tools...

Which countries are you able to correct?

Viviane

Hi Viviane,
I have just watched the picture from Kosovo by ChrisJ. Indeed although this country has been recognized by most countries in the western world it is still listed under Serbia. Holmertz pointed out the South Sudan still does not exist as a separate country neither.
Obviously different countries have different opinions but what should decide about the country appearing as independent?
Just curious,
M

International recognition of Kosovo
Spain is the only major country in Western Europe that has not recognised Kosovo, originally because of objections to the legality of its unilateral declaration of independence under international law, and also due to concerns about possible implications regarding its own issues with independence movements in the Basque Country and Catalonia. Although it has given indications that its stance may change, increasing political tensions in Catalonia under the Government of Artur Mas makes it unlikely that Spain will soften its current position.

Kosovo, not Serbia

Hi Viviane.

Just curious why there was no reply to the enquiry as to why Kosovo, (which is recognised as a separate country by 108/196 countries worldwide, 23/28 EU members), is still being listed as part of Serbia? They use Euro not Dinar, have their own flag, culture, government and language (92% Albanian, not Serb), and won't be reverting back willingly to former Republic of Yugoslavia any time soon, especially after the way the Serbs treated them in the 1990's. Is TE afraid of Spain, Slovakia, Cyprus, Romania, Greece and Russia? The UN (United Nations) has also recognised Kosovo as an independent country.

From Wikipedia:

European Union itself refers only to "Kosovo*", (not Serbia) with an asterisked footnote containing the text agreed to by the Belgrade–Pristina negotiations: "This designation is without prejudice to positions on status, and is in line with UNSCR 1244 and the ICJ Opinion on the Kosovo Declaration of Independence."

No answer

Would it be too much to expect a reply to my enquiry?

Porteplume 11-01-2015 11:19 AM

Hi Chris,

It is not "too much", it is never "too much" for the last 12 years... :)

But I just can't answer. I can correct a location when it is at the wrong place but I can't add any new regions or countries or any other data... It is to the admins & techteam to do that. Sorry! ;)

ChrisJ 11-01-2015 11:31 AM

Kosovo

Hi Viviane and thankyou for your reply.

Would it be possible then to refer the question to the admins and tech team? Kosovo has been an independent country for over 10 years now. The huge majority of global and EU countries recognise it.

Chios

Hi Viviane

There are 11 different locations for Chios in Greece. I just uploaded a shot to TE and it's in a different location to the one I previously uploaded to. Will try to find the premier shot I loaded of the windmills and let you know.

ChrisJ 01-06-2016 03:47 PM

Hi Viviane

There are 11 different locations for Chios in Greece. They should all be under Hios.

http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/Eur...oto1466486.htm

http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/Eur...oto1509915.htm

I temporarily have the boats under: Earth Europe Greece South Aegean Dodekanisos Chios but will change 'Dodekanisos' to 'Hios' as it has its own province.

The majority (30) are under Earth Europe Greece North Aegean Hios chios.

Porteplume 01-06-2016 04:59 PM

Hi Chris,

I have merged all these places under the place Chios... :)

Agri Province Turkey

Thanks Viviane!

I found another: (3 spellings)

Earth >> Middle East >> Turkey >> East Anatolia >> Agri >> Dogubeyazit
Earth >> Middle East >> Turkey >> East Anatolia >> Agri >> Dogubayazit
Earth >> Middle East >> Turkey >> East Anatolia >> Agri >> Dogybayazit

The Turkish spelling & pronunciation is difficult even for English speakers who often simplify it to "doggy biscuit"

Wikipedia uses both the 'a' & 'e' spellings. (Dogubayazit / Dogubeyazit.) There are 5 pages in TE under 'e' and 2 pages under 'a' and 1 image under 'y' (Dogybayazit) There may be other spellings as well. Those are just the ones I noticed.

Porteplume 01-10-2016 07:55 PM

Hi Chris,

I have merged all the different spellings into Doğubayazıt (133 photos) and Doğubeyazit (29 photos). I understand the first one is the city and the second one is the district...

Kind regards,
Viviane

Cleaning up locations...

Hi everyone,

I am planning some "locations cleaning ups" and I began (or is it begun? ;)) yesterday with UK / Devon - http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/Eur...England/Devon/

Other regions you want to be cleaned up?

Greetings - Viviane :)

ChrisJ 01-25-2016 12:08 PM

Vitosha.

Thanks again Viviane

One more I found today. Vitosha Mountain outside Sofia in Bulgaria. There are 4 listings in TE. I have chosen the one with the most uploads but you are welcome to change it to any one of the 4 you decide on.

ChrisJ 01-25-2016 01:06 PM

Vitosha

Hi Viviane.

There are 4 TE locations for Vitosha. I forgot to mention it is not in Sofia City. I had to pay a small surcharge on my taxi fare for leaving Sofia city limits. There is an adjacent Sofia province outside Sofia CITY which includes Vitosha Montagne. http://www.ezilon.com/maps/images/eu...itical-map.gif

Porteplume 01-25-2016 01:43 PM

Thank you Chris!

I have kept "Vitosha" as the only location name:

Earth > Europe > Bulgaria > West > Sofia Province > Vitosha

Sinaia Romania

Hi Viviane

I think I have found another location with 4 different locations (Sinaia, Romania)

I am fairly certain they should all be under Prahova Provence / County.

Hello Chris,
Corrections have been made...

Wroclaw

Hi Viviane

I found another. Wroclaw in Poland has 9 different locations. The correct province is Dolnoslaskie with over 2000+ entries. All of the others just have a few uploads. eg Wroclaw zoo.

ChrisJ 05-05-2016 02:47 PM

Hi Viviane

I found another. Lovech has its own province but there are 70 photos listed under Veliko Tarnovo province. Which need to be shifted to Lovech. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Provinces_of_Bulgaria

Porteplume 05-06-2016 08:46 AM

Hello Chris,

I am now on holidays and I only handle the very urgent problem but I will answer your request as soon as I am back home.
Thank you for being patient a couple of days longer... :)

Hillerod

Hello

Found another. 'Hillerod' in Frederiksborg Denmark has another caption under "Hilleroed". Would it be possible to combine these 2 under 'Hillerod' please / svp?

missing city

Hi Viviane,

Earlier this year or may be in 2016, when I posted a picture on TE and added a new city but got an answer invalid query, the photo was accepted but the new city was not and impossible to add it later.

Would it be possible for you to add to city on the province of Quebec in Canada

photo ID 1533799 please add city Tourelle

photo ID 1538160 please add city Anse-au-Griffon

Thank you,

Pierre Langlois

Hi Viviane

I found another.

Alesund in Norway is in Møre og Romsdal county. There are 4 other incorrect categories that could be combined into just the 1. Cheers.

Bonjour Chris,

It has been changed...
Thank you for pointing this out.

Kaiping

Merci Viviane

One more I spotted:

EarthAsiaChinaSouthGuangdongKaiPing (6 images) & EarthAsiaChinaSouthKaipingGuangdongGuangdong (2 images) could be combined, because Guangdong is the province not the city, so no need to have it twice. "Kaiping" too, not KaiPing.

Hi Vivisne

I found another location with 2 categories in TE

Pompei & Pompeii. The first one seems to be the most popular but the spelling is wrong. Should be 2 'i's. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pompeii
