A REFERENDUM !

A referendum ?

Yes… A referendum …

Let's vote, folks. Let's have some fun. Let's vent out our feelings and our frustrations, and our opinions - safely and in a very democratic way.

A REFERENDUM…

What could be simpler and truer?

Just a simple question and even simpler answer: Yes or no.

"but, if, however, nevertheless, even though, on the other hand, nonetheless " - not accepted.
No jumping to each other throats. Cold and calm: YES or NO

Simple to the bone - YES or NO.
I know… I know… It won't change ( probably ?) - anything, yet… What the heck - let's try… Let's give a shot.

Do you want the site's previous version back ?"
Yes
No

No explanation needed, no elaborating upon, no long tirades, no 'what if'…

Simple mathematics.
How many Yes against how many NO. Let's count the voices.

Just for fun, just to know the truth.

Do you want the site's previous version back ?"

Well… ?

Re: A REFERENDUM !

But what is the opinion of Mr. Grabarczyk? Is that a "tak"?

Advantages of the old site: fast, user-friendly (easy to use, clear links, good font size), functional -> it encourages participation and interaction, it's fun, it's addictive

Advantages of the new site: nicer look, photo quality better, points are not displayed (encourages more thoughtful critiques and more attention to less popular photos/members, and that's good), it's not addictive (this can be a good thing, after all)

I don't care about advertising, and I understand that

In the beginning the new site was a complete disaster, but now I can live with it. Having said that, I still prefer the "old one" (so that's the "YES" to your question). It would have been possible to improve the look of the old site, and avoiding the display of points in its main gallery, without all the trouble of a new site.

But the new site is here to stay, it seems, and the best course of action is to give it the functionality and "user-friendly" capabilities of the old site. I hope so.

We'll always have a traditional version of TE in www.trekearth.pl, after all I believe everyone here has already learnt some basic Polish.

Hi George, don't you know how difficult it is sometimes to give a simple answer to a simple question? ;)

QUESTION: "Do you want the site's previous version back ?"
ANSWER: "YES!"

NO

Do you want the site's previous version back ?"

NO

Here are my thoughts:

Yes we are used to the user-friendly or better 'interface' that easily connects members, or make things interact faster with easy links, the convenience of knowing how to navigate with a familiar layout. This makes it all easy and worthwhile for all at the same time.

I guess the new site must go on like life itself 'a continous stream that goes with the flow amidst all the changes. The new site introduces us with a different and unfamiliar aproach, I may not be as active as before but when I first logged-in I lost myself in a maze. The fast paced city I come from with things always comes fast and I forget things in a snap! There will always be challeges, its just like having your first digital camera, something new comes up (though some are just for marketing strategies) but doesn't mean its always better - at first then it improves. I guess the site will depend on its members, their wonder in photography can be realised if you are determined enough to learn and want to explore more on this site. Technicalities are always there, I don't mind going through a new phase as long as the administrators don't give rediculous excuses. If you don't like it but you stay, there must be a love-hate relationship that keeps you around TE.

Do you want the site's previous version back ?"

No...Though I don't mind if in case they keep the old one.

I apologise for recently not replying to critiques or even critiquing. I'm a kind hearted man as most of my friends say but it is just I'm too busy since the economic crisis started.

Be Good to Earth ;)

Hi, Ji Zhang... I'm Polonaise and I'm an initiator of this tread

Tell us, Ji Zheng...
Tell us now, as you had told us your precious, invaluable thoughts about the site...

Do you understand the basic English to the level so you can response appropriately to the question asked at the beginning of this tread ?

YES !

Having a referandum was my idea though. See previous topic ;)

But who cares we say yes or no. The admins seem decisive on the new version. I even saw some users have already left TE by deleting all their beautiful photos. Maybe I won't do that; but I will not continue to be a TE addict as I used to be before.

You are right, Tolga... it's a pity that some active members have left, even deleting their portfolios... while I've noticed that other members have virtually frozen their activity...

The new TE is suitable for its task: to introduce and to discover the world. But.. It would be necessary to make changes in things yet.

but I hope that the admins will improve the font size,
