What the Tech Team are working on currently

The Feedback Forum has raised a number of issues and the Tech Team are working on them currently. They make take some time to resolve but we want to thank members for taking the time to report problems. The major items are listed below.

Uploading a new profile picture is broken- you can delete the picture upload a new one- and the system is just switching it back to your old one

The " next photo" issue is being worked on

We are aware that for some of you, when you upload a new picture and enter a country- it does not update on your map

Changing your username is NOT possible for the moment- when you try to do this using edit, it will error.

The map is working. It is just slow. You must wait 24 hrs for the map to reset. After 24 hrs if you do not see the updated map refresh your page and it will be there.
Now I have asked tech if we can get this process to work faster, but for now it is working. We just need to be patient. :D

Dear Amber,
I see the map is working.
However, I must admit that having started on the old site in 2006, I still use it whenever possible. I find the map there a lot clearer. For instance, even Crete is quite visible on my old map, whereas on the new one , we can hardly see Greece.
I may be asking too much, but would it be possible at all to update the map on the old site too, being as the list of countries is completed on both sites.
Thanks in advance for your response.
Marie-Louise.

As I wrote yesterday, the map works OK. It's just that the map on Beta TE is a lot clearer, and I just wondered if it would be too much asking for an update on the Beta Te map.
Thanks in advance if ever you can do something.
Best regards.
Marie-Louise.

Please help me understand what you are asking. If the Beta map is already "a lot clearer" as you stated, what needs to be updated exactly?

Docarmo 12-01-2010 03:53 AM

clearer... clarifying

I think Marie-Louise is saying that the design of the map from the older TE version (now called 'beta') is better - she prefers its appearance, because it is clear, easier to look at.
But the updating of visited countries is not being effectuated, like it is done in the new version.
She would like to have the maps from the old version updated, too.

Marie-Louise, correct me, please, if I'm wrong.
Du

Thanks for understanding my plea Docarmo!

You just got it right Docarmo. Thanks ever so much.
Marie-Louise.

Ok, got it. Thank you for the clarification. Tech is aware of this. It is in the queue to be fixed.

Problem Copying Photo

Dear Moderators,

I am a new user and a common problem we are facing is uploading the picture. After filling up all the required data & pressing the update button the message appears as "Problem Copying Photo". I have read the photo guidelines & followed accordingly. It seems not only me but most of the new users are having this problem as I viewed some of the posts in the forum and no one had any answers to it. Could you please help us out with this issue?

Thanks & Regards,
Ravin

Geotagging

Hi I have many geotagged photos. They all have GPS position in Exif. When your website will use this information for locating photos ?

It was stated in October 2010 that the profile picture issue was fixed, but for me, I am still having the issue. I haven't used my profile for a few years but getting back into the site. I tried to update my profile photo only it reverts back to the older photo. Any way I can fix this?
