Thanks for your comment (too kind).
These villages are leaning on the side of a very big and long escarpment (600 m high and over 250 Km long). I just climbed to the highest point in the village and took the picture from there: I was actually taking the picture from the terrace of a toguną, a sacred place were old people of the village meet for ceremonies (see an example <A HREF="http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/Africa/Mali/photo314713.htm">here</A>). Toguną are usually overlooking the whole village.
