The composition is really good - I like the diagonal effect and the way you've cropped tightly on the falls. It creates a dramatic effect that suits the subject. The light is a bit harsh though and you've lost detail on some of the rocks - maybe if you took it at a different time of day with softer light and less contrast or even just coming from a different direction you could avoid this? A couple of other suggestions but these depend on what type of camera you use - you could maybe try a polarising filter if its possible to use one with your camera to reduce some of the glare off the rocks. Second maybe a longer exposure time to blur the water a little? But it works well as it is - mainly like I say cos of the composition.

I like the composition of this a lot - the use of the archway to frame it was a good idea which works well and you've got the relative sizes and positions of the castle and the arch well balanced. The warm light on the side of the building is nice too. The only think I dislike is the dark mass of the bush in the foreground. I guess it wasn't possible to get a position where you got both the arch effect but no bush so short of buying a chainsaw I suppose there wasn't really anything you could have done about it!

Hi Chris and welcome to TE. The light is very dramatic and appealing on the mountain - I think there is too much of the foreground - I don't mind that the shadow is so dark - I think the important part of the scene is the lit area so that's where it is important to preserve detail - but the large dark area dominates too much. I'm going to suggest a crop that's even tighter that the other one (loses some sky too).

An unusual viewpoint of a well-known landmark. I think this could have worked better if it was taken a little earlier in the evening - nearer to sunset when there was still some colour in the sky which would work better IMO than just plain blackness. Also there would still be some light coming from the sky which would have lightened the shadows and allowed you to retain more detail in the darker areas of the photo.

Two things I really like about this - the colours - the red stands out really well from the green background and the composition is good - just the right amount of space around the fish and the off-centre placement of the fish's eye works well too. Really nice shot!

I like this a lot - the comp. is good I like the way the lines lead in from the corners of the frame - you've captured the business of the scene without making it too cluttered and the B/W works very well. Maybe a slightly lower shutter speed would have introduced some blur as the people moved - I don't know if this would be possible without a tripod which may have not been possible. I don't actually know if that would improve it but it might be worth trying as an experiment

I love the dramatic lighting here but its a shame as you said about the burnt out highlights - I gather that's a problem with digital cameras sometimes. Otherwise its good - maybe the composition could be improved slightly by cropping out some of the foreground which doesn't really add so much to the scene?

It captures a nice feeling of rural calm this one - with the lovely still reflection - it seems very tranquil. I like the composition too with the gentle curve of the trees receeding away from the viewer.....

I like the dramatic feel of this - the way the traffic seems to rush out at the viewer and the slightly tilt to the photo seems to accentuate this. I agree with jurgen though - maybe you could try another shutter speed if its possible with your camera. If you used a shutter of several seconds then you might be able to get movement in both sides of the road - alternatively if this is possible (because of timing of traffic lights etc) the moving side of the road would record as light trails while the other would stay still - this would heighten the contrast between the moving and motionless traffic further. But its a good shot as it is. It conveys nicely the feel of a busy city.

I like the way the light works in this - the way the shining reflection on the snow brings attention to the cross making it the focal point of the scene even though its very small in the frame. Well done.
