This is one of the so called palaces situated high up on the mountain side of the buddhist holy mountain Hengshan (2016 m). Fortunately we had pretty bad weather so I got some nice misty pictures. This day the clouds began just above the monastery.

This monastery contains several small temples and some larger palaces spread out over the slope and into a cleft in the mountainside. One can take a 45 minute hike from a parking lot up to the mountain or take the lifts. There are som (fake?) daoist and buddhist monks living here taking care of tourists (see my other picture from this place).

I thought about converting this to B&W but didn't get any results I like so if anyone can do anything nice with this I'd be interested in a workshop explaining how to make it contrasty and detailed and not too dark or bright.

What I did before decolourising was to crank up the magenta colour to the max using variations. Then Igave it a boost in contrast and brightness. Sharpen to get a bit more detail and then a small amount of smart blur to fuzz the left and right sides. At the end I had to darken and blur the top of the yellow gate to get it to behave itself. Is this anything like the effect you were looking for?
