![Gold Star Critiquer/Gold Note Writer [C: 163 W: 7 N: 242]](http://i1.trekearth.com/misc/g-n-g.gif) (1019) | The (Orthodox) Temple of Saint Sava (Serbian: Храм Светог Саве) in Belgrade is the largest Orthodox Church Temple currently in use. The church is dedicated to Saint Sava, founder of the Serbian church and an important figure in medieval Serbia. It is built on the Vračar plateau, on the location where his remains are thought to have been burned in 1595 by Turkish Sinan Pasha. From its location, it dominates Belgrade's cityscape, and is perhaps the most monumental building in the city. The building of the church structure is being financed exclusively by donations. The parish home is nearby, as will be the planned patriarchal building.

You can also see the statue of Karadjordje (the leader of the First Serbian Uprising against the Ottoman Empire, and the founder of the Serbian House of Karađorđević), this park in front of the temple is called Park of Karadjordje (Karadjordjev park)
