The church is rich of paintings due to artists of 1500 and the following centuries. The sarcophagus under the most greater altar contains the relics of the martyrs S. Giacomo and S. Mariano, titular of the church. On the walls of the temple traces of frescos of the centuries XIV and XV. The wood crucifix above the altar date from XIII century. The Cathedral is situated on the high part of the city. Its inside is pleasantly a little illuminated, favoring calm and meditation, accompanied by beautiful Gregorian singings.
Questo è l'abside della Cattedrale di Gubbio costruita in stile gotico al posto di una precedente chiesa romanica, alla fine del 1200. La chiesa è ricca di dipinti dovuti ad artisti del 1500 e dei secoli successivi. Il sarcofago sotto l’altare maggiore contiene le reliquie dei martiri S. Giacomo e S. Mariano, titolari della chiesa. Sulle pareti del tempio rimangono tracce di affreschi dei secoli XIV e XV. Il crocefisso di legno sopra l'altare è datato XIII secolo. La Cattedrale è situata sulla parte più alta della città. Il suo interno è piacevolmente poco illuminato, favorendo tranquillità e meditazione, accompagnati da bellissimi canti gregoriani. |
