Wish You Were Here (48) fulvio52
(5356) | So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell,
blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
And did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange a walk-on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?
How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have you found? The same old fears.
Wish you were here.
Marken, last friday evening, 9.56 PM. on the way back home.
Doggie and I just got to the bus stop, I had less than 30 seconds to uncap my camera and take this picture. Bus 111 was approaching, missing it means waiting another 30 minutes for the next one. So, not a lot of time to think, but this much I figured out : no way to get the big tree in full sight from this angle. A whiff to the right and I'd be screwing light and perspective, catch a bunch of messy stuff in bottom right, and end up most likely cutting into the first dark tree on the left. As usual : it would be great to have the cake AND the cream all the time, but it only happens once every so often.
Well, I don't complain. It was a warm, beautiful sunset, bathing in almost surreal light, the smell of hay in the air... It made me think of Pink Floyd and Wish You Were Here...
Now, Wish You Were Here is the title track on the omonimous Pink Floyd's 1975 album. The song's lyrics encompass writer Roger Waters' feelings of alienation from other people. Like most of the album, it refers to former Pink Floyd member Syd Barrett and his breakdown. The main riff came to David Gilmour while playing his acoustic guitar in Abbey Road Studios. Gilmour then demonstrated the riff to Waters, who was impressed. They collaborated to complete the song, as Waters had already written some lyrics. It turned out to be one of the greatest songs of all time. |

(5356) Hue/Saturation Edited by:Wandering_Dan

I selected an area around the foreground tree and used it to create an adjustment layer for Hue/Saturation. Then I selected the Yellows, and narrowed the sliders at the bottom of the H/S window until only the colors in the tree were included. (I did this by sliding Saturation all the way to zero, then watching which colors went to black as I adjusted the color slider.) When I was satisfied that I had the right range, I made final adjustments to those colors: Hue -7, Saturation -11. Lightness -14. I left the blending at Normal and opacity at 100%.
Because I was limiting the adjustment to a small range of color, I did not need to be exact in my selection mask; I knew the blue sky would be out of the range. At the same time, using the selection mask guaranteed that the other greens and yellows in the picture would not be affected. |
