 Today's Hike (48) bibiweb
(31419) | Another hike this morning staring off from the Col de la Colombière. The light was quite special as clouds were swirling around the summits. For a short instant the summit of Pointe Blanche (2438 m) was bathed in the morning sunlight, just before the clouds settled in again.
I hiked for about 90 minutes to reach the Col de Balafrasse that you can see on the right of the picture. I had initially planned to go further to climb a summit (not visible on this photo), but I encountered a major obstacle on the path (see WS).
It was finally a good thing that I couldn't go on because within 15 minutes, the sky turned dark and I heard the thunder announcing the arrival of a storm. So I quickly put away my camera in my bag and managed to make it back to the car just as the rain started.
Bonus: another photo of the ibexes

About thirty ibexes were lying across the path I was on. I had already seen several of them since the beginning of the hike and all of them, rather frightened, had walked away as I approached. But here, for the first time, I found myself facing an old male with horns over a meter long who clearly made me understand that he had no intention of letting me pass. So I carefully stepped back a few meters and enjoyed taking loads of photos of these animals. |
