It was inaugurated in 1822 becoming the first public cementery of B.A. and the most relevant historical and artistic monument of the country. This site of 54.834 square metres has 4.800 vaults. The most relevant players of Argentine history rest in Recoleta: politicians, military men, ststesmen, explorers, leaders, writers, poets etc. Many people visit this place to honour Eva Peron. We can also can find there a Polish reminiscence: Isabel Walewski Colonna (grandson of Napoleón Bonaparte). |
