Gorak Shep is the highest village on the Everest Trek, at 5.140 mt. The 5.545 mt. hill Kala Pattar, beyond the dry lake, is the high point of the trek. The snow-covered Pumori rises in the distance.
Gorak Shep, although lower viewpoints will provide views almost as good. Pumori, Nuptse, Changtse, Ama Dablam, Taweche, Kantega and Everest surround us, and some 200 metres below, the area of the Everest Base Camp can be seen in a bowl at the bottom of the Khumbu Ice Fall. |
