The bridge des Invalides was originally a suspended bridge built between 1824 and 1826 by the Navier engineer. Because of its instability, it was replaced by another suspension bridge known as "the alley of Pantin."
To prepare for the Universal Exhibition of 1855, a book will replace the bridge. The new bridge was destroyed during the collapse of ice from the Seine.

As a destroyed bridge, engineers and Darcel The Galisserie retain batteries and abutments primitives, and will add a new battery in the middle of the river to serve as a pedestal two allegorical figures, Victory Land by Victor Vilain and Naval Victory by Georges Diébolt , Who is also the author of the Zouave de l'Alma bridge.

Consisting of four arches of unequal lengths of which placed the center is 68 meters, the bridge will be expanded in 1956. The balustrade is a colored stone or dark. A picture of the Alexandre III bridge, the Pont des Invalides is built in oblique extension of the boulevard de La Tour-Maubourg, left bank, and leads to Canada's place, right bank.
