Due to the long political turmoil in Nepal, many of these buildings are in a poor state of repair. Patan is divided from only Kathmandu by the Bagmati river. Here, a stone elephant, from the 15th century, stands guard before one of the temples. Patan is recognized by the United Nations as a World Heritage Site.I hope that, with the coming of a more stable government, these wonderful temples will be better maintained. |
