Rice Harvest (70)

(22141)
Rice harvest in Nepal. For drying the rice they put the rice on every place and nearly every road in Bhaktapur. Eveyday the rice has to be ventilated, please have a look to the
workshop
.
Agriculture remains Nepal's principal economic activity, employing 80% of the population and providing 37% of GDP. Only about 20% of the total area is cultivable; another 33% is forested; most of the rest is mountainous. Rice and wheat are the main food crops. The lowland Terai region produces an agricultural surplus, part of which supplies the food-deficient hill areas.

This one was shot at 8-Nov-1994, not exactly on the square of the main post, but not far, if my memory is to be trusted.
The quality isn't so good, but I have always been very fond of it and attaching it to the superb Achim's post sounded like a good idea.
Camera: Olympus OM4, most probably with an Olympus 35-70 zoom; film: Kodak Ektachrome 100 pro.
