São Sebastião Church was raised in Porto de Cima Town in 1779. In order to give religious attendance to the local population, colonel Dom Alfonso Botelho de Sampaio e Souza and captain Antonio Rodrigues de Carvalho had projected and initiated the construction of a chapel under the invocation of Our Lady da Guia and São Sebastião. With the population growth, the chapel had to be extended. In 1840, the caretakers received authorization for the workmanships.
It's a humble church. The façade is very simple and internally, it does not have valuable artistic elements. The building was victim of many discharacterized reforms, and the consequences had been, in part, attenuated for works of restoration carried after being considered historic site. A place for praying like any other church anyhow.

Tech note: in the workshop, my first dualtone attempt (the concrete block in the foreground was disturbing and the clouds were with an overexposure effect). Why not to post it? The color version? No, I don't have it...the layer was erased without wanting :(
