Continuing our walk on the beach at Ras Nungwi.........

The land jutting out towards the left is the most northerly tip of Unguja, the main island of the Zanzibar archipelago. The lighthouse, (Mnarani in Swahili) built in 1886 is still operational, so is not open to the public. It is also known as Hog Point Light. Near the lighthouse is an aquarium which houses a family of turtles among other things.
