Path to the Bluebells (6)

Lower Wood is a fragment of typical ancient woodland with flourishing populations of woodland flora. Bluebells, oxlips and early-purple orchids provide a vibrant display in spring.

I really liked this view with a path leading to bluebells in the distance.

I used a Circular Polariser to try to bring out the colours.

I'll be posting another couple of shots to do with bluebells so check them out.

As always, all critiques welcome, good or bad:-)

Sharpening

Graeme,

Once the image is re-sized I use multiple sharpening passes set to Amount 30% and .3 radius. In CS3 I use 'Smart Sharpen' and in PSE I use 'Adjust Sharpness'. In some images I find is useful to do selective sharpening. In one like this I might sharpen the overall image to a certain degree and then sharpen only the foreground section any further. Intricately detailed areas like the trees can suffer from over-sharpening sooner than other parts of an image like this.

Always preview the sharpening results looking at the image at 100%. The trick here is to avoid halos and fringing and, as always, to not over-do. It is better to have a slightly soft image than an over-sharpened one in my opinion.

(PS: This version might look more colorful to you). I didn't boost saturation at all on this but converted it from AdobeRGB to sRGB.)

Cheers!
