Wat Chai Wattanaram.
Built in 1630 it was conceived as a replica of an Angkorian temple similar to that of Angkor Wat in Cambodia. It may have been built to commemorate the King’s victory over Thailand’s neighbour.

This is one of prangs situated alongside the main tower containing over 100 beheaded Buddha images. A thai friend told me that when the Burmese bombed the palace, they also beheaded the various buddha images within the grounds as a sign of disrespect towards the Thais.
