Ce monument avait été édifié à la gloire de notre industrie sidérurgique et devait être démonté par la suite. Il est toujours là et vient de subir un face lift au cours du quel les panneaux en aluminium des 9 boules ont été remplacés par des panneaux en inox.
Le symbole par excellence de la Belgique et de Bruxelles tombe sous un copyright absurde interdisant toute reproduction photographique sous peine d'une amende de notre société des droits d'auteur: la Sabam. A l'occasion de ce jubilé, cependant, les images sont tolérées pour les amateurs s'il n'y a pas de but commercial. J'en profite donc pour poster une autre vue, toute fraiche, sous le ciel rose de la veille.

Belgium and especially the Atomium are celebrating 50 years since the Universal Exhibition of 1958. The monument was built to the glory of our steel industry and should have been dismantled at the end of the exhibition. It is still there and has recently undergone a face lift. The aluminium panels of the 9 balls have been replaced with stainless steel.
The symbol of Belgium and Brussels is protected by an absurd copyright which prohibits any photographic reproduction. Because of this anniversary, however, the images are tolerated if there is no commercial purpose. I take this opportunity therefore to post another fresh view, under last night's pink sky .
