 Mechelen Canal (12) B-F-G
(632) | This is a remnant of the canals, moats and creeks that used to meander through the old town of Mechelen, Belgium. At the beginning of the 19th century such canals were usually so polluted, the posed a serious health risk. As a consequence they were usually either filled in and/or turned into underground sewers.
In Mechelen, a stretch of the old canals was recently opened up again to enhance the picturesque view of the city.
I love skies like this; the sun shining underneath a dark raincloud. An effect that people so often try to replicate with hdr photography and fail just as many times. |
