Lake Magadi (122)

Lake Magadi
is a salt lake on the floor of the
Ngorongoro Crater
. Magadi is the Swahili word for soda or salt. The Maasai call it Lake Makat, which means the same thing in their language.
Thousands of flamingos congregate here to feed on plankton. They usually fly into the crater before dawn every day.
There is quite a sizable number of resident Zebras in the crater, who don’t join the annual migration, although migrating zebras swell the numbers when they are in the area.
