Back to the slums of Delhi with this post.

This was shot for a planned story of Dalit sweepers. Specifically, the Balmiki Dalits. These are the people who come out early in the morning to clean the streets of Delhi.

I shot this at Sangam Park which is the Basti where many of the Balmiki live. Ironically enough, the person who's area this was to sweep hadn't shown up for a couple of days, and this person is a substitute sweeper. She was complaining to my host and interpreter that the area was such a mess.

I was surprised to find that it was a woman doing the sweeping. One of the things that the Balmiki politicians are trying to change is for the women sweepers to only sweep in areas where they have access to facilities to use the toilet.

I shot this, the same time I shot this boy.

This is posted to show how much PP is done on many of my images. As per the forum thread here.
