The resort is under construction as you can see some pile of earthwork is kept at right. The resort is built on stilts. At the time, I was not paying much attention to this town as we were busy arranging boat trip and preparation for rides to the islands. But it can be seen here that the water off this coast is pristine, clear and shallow as far out to sea.
Semporna is about 1.5hour drive from Tawau which is the south-eastern tip-most town of Sabah, reachable by air travel easily. The town is thriving with tourism and fishing industry. I will say it is a secret heaven for divers, as all over town you can see many tourists all geared for diving trips to the islands.
