Growing up (60)

From a far distance, you see tall coconut palms when you approach Maiga Island by the sea route, with the palms scattered based on a thin line of white sandy beach if it is low tide. I had posted a question about the wind blowing off the stilted huts in the sea and the answer is here. From these tall palms, you will realise that the island is very much sheltered and strong wind is rare. Otherwise you will see a lot of fallen palms and these are not likely to grow so tall. Really one of the tallest palms I ever see. Growing up so tall, really.

Standing within the palms was just making me realise how different nature was out here. Everything so natural and unspoiled. In particular, on this island there is no generator and electricity, so I did not see any television. But on Mabul island, generators and televisions are common and in evenings you see Bajau children flocking around houses to share and watch cartoon shows on TV. The joy of growing up!

Thank you for viewing. Regards, Bill

I converted to black and white and added a bit of contrast.
