Hajdu rail (24)
Jakab
(2163)
Some of the Hajdu towns are connected with Debrecen (and there with the international railway net) by this 68 km long branch line. Since in the last decades the main traffic has moved to roads the small train on the picture is more than enough to meet the demands.
Diesel trains of Bzmot class were built in Czechoslovakia from 1973 till 1984 by Tatra Works. Hungarian Railways purchased 205 items now serving as main vehicles on branch lines. The original 141 kW Skoda engines were then replaced with more powerful Rába-MAN engines and also the hydro-mechanical gears were changed for those from Voith. (Yes, the same Voith that manufactured Ulf's generators

.)
As a consequence of the modernization the maximal allowed speed has been increased from 70 to 80 km/h.
In the last years there has been heated debates on closure of branch lines producing enormous loss.
In the WS you can find another shot of the train.
