Sehzade Camii, Osmanli Imparatorlugu’nun en uzun sureli hukumdari Kanuni Sultan Suleyman tarafindan oglu Sehzade Mehmed icin yaptirilmistir. 16. yuzyilda Mimar Sinan tarafindan yapilan camii Sehzadebasi Camii olarak da bilinmektedir.
Mimar Sinan ilk eserlerinden biri olan bu camiyi "ciraklik donemi eseri" olarak degerlendirmektedir. Kalfalik donemini Suleymaniye Camii (Istanbul), ustalik donemini ise Selimiye Camii (Edirne) ile tariflemektedir.

Sehzade Mosque was commisioned by Sultan Suleyman The Magnificent for his son Sehzade Mehmed. The Mosque is also known as Sehzadebasi Mosque and was built by Mimar Sinan in the 16. Century.
Mimar Sinan divides his career into three periods. He calls Sehzade Mosque as a work of first period, The Apprenticeship. The second period, The Foremanship, is described by Suleymaniye Mosque (Istanbul) and the last period, “Master Period” is described by Selimiye Mosque (Edirne). |
