This is Craigmore Pier in Rothesay, Bute. Bute is an island in the Firth of Clyde, not far from Glasgow.

I'm enjoying the effects of the low winter sun up here in Scotland - the light has a very different quality than in Thailand, which is of course much closer to the equator.

Since I was shooting almost directly at the sun, the sky was very bright, so I've added a digital graduated filter to compensate.

The same view, in landscape. I couldn't include more in front of the building, as there is a very unaesthetic bright green bin just out of shot.
