This is another view of Mt. Discovery from McMurdo. Again, the 2692 meter tall mountain is about 40 miles (~65 km) from me and this great atmospheric thickness has resulted in some haziness in the picture.
Usually the summit of this extinct volcano is covered in stormy clouds and in that respect it is a shy mountain. It seldom shows up with such a glow as it basks in the sun! For a more dynamic photo of Mt. Discovery please see my earlier post.
