 The girls (22) thien
(2082) | | My whole Sapa experience came rushing back yesterday when I received a mail from these girls. I remember how they took care of me, reserving the best food, let me win at cards games, took me into their home and protecting me from the nasty neighbor's dogs. When they saw me crawling on my four limbs on the trekking route, they took my tripod and carried my camera bag. When that was still not enough for me to get off all four, they make one then two walking sticks from the sideroad's bamboo troves. Not content with the bland sticks, they decorated them with the wild flowers that they collected on the way. I marvelled at their ability to negociate the slippery paths with heavy loads in their back basket while I tumbled head-over-heels downhill in my hi-tech trekking boots. I remember the way they face discriminations, being brushed-off and reluctant to enter any lowland vietnamese owned shops. I remember the way we were refused a good table because the restaurant owner was afraid that her foreign tourists patrons will feel uneasy. I remember their grace and strength when they were looked down in Bac Ha market, the way we shared the 40 cents dinners in a sloppy rundown hut where they eat everyday. I remember we share our dreams and thoughts, enjoying an ethnic dance or watching the TV together. I remember them waiting at dawn every morning outside of my hotel and their faces when it was time for us to say goodbye. I have come to Sapa to take pictures but for the 4 short days that I have been there, the camera was almost always in my bag; I have exchanged the images for their simple word: "brother". |

(2082) Rotation + Crop Edited by:Porteplume

Bonsoir Thien,
I just rotated the maximum to "make" the left girl smaller and did a tighter crop (also necessary because of the rotation) - Now it looks like there is more balance, 1st because of the colour version, the green sjawl at the right and 2nd because the left girl is a bit smaller. What do you think?
