Workshop Note
The shores of lake Orumieh are covered with a salt bank. The waves have a few of the 5 mm Crusacean Artemis salina stranded. You may notice the abdominal gills and the eyes. The red color is from an oxygen transporting molecule, hemoglobin that binds iron ions, just like in man. Artemisia eat the tiny algae in the water. They are in turn the principal food source of the Flamingos.
