Workshop Note

This is Frank Prislovsky of Stuttgart, Arkansas. He is a rice farmer with some 4,000 acres. While my two mails to Stuttgard Chamber of Commerce asking for help never get a reply, Frank stopped his combine spending time to give me the answers and explanations to my poor knowledge about rice farming in America.

During the pursuit on the topic of "rice in America" in the last few months, I only saw american-made combines. A top-of-the-line combine manufactured by American company like Case International or John Deere may cost around US$225,000.00 a piece. But I saw two Australian-made New Holland CR970 in Frank's farm at Stuttgart as shown in this picture. Each of them costs US$250,000.00. Do the imported combines perform better? I have asked that question and the answer was a smile. He told me that there must be some good reasons for him to spend the equivalence of a regular sedan on each machine, but he declined to make a comparison.
So my lesson will continue...
