This is what I Made (PS7):

1) Crop of the 1/4 bottom
2) Apply a filter multiply with 40 % filling
3) Merge of layers
4) Autocontrast

I've cropped at the top and on the left. And i've changed the luminsosity and contrast.

I only adjusted levels to use the whole dynamic range and also added a tiny bit of sharpening.
