This stag was standing in the rain at Chatsworth, the home of the Duke of Devonshire in Derbyshire. Deer are free to roam the estate. He looks very proud and powerful. I have to admit to feeling a little nervous, as there was nothing between us but a mutual awareness.

P.S. If you’re wondering why the Duke of Devonshire lives in Derbyshire, it’s due to a historical (hysterical?) mistake. When making the first Duke a duke, the King forgot what he was to be duke of, and mistakenly said “Devonshire”. The King, of course, is never wrong, and the Duke of Devonshire he was…

I framed differently, a little at the top and to the right so that there is less branches. It also places the stag in a better position. I increased the size of the photo too since it was not very big but I see that you could not make it very bigger as it looses some sharpness.
