Jal Mahal at sunrise (23) jlomonaco
(1254) | | Jal Mahal is a small palace built amidst a lake in the outskirts of Jaipur, on the road to the more famous Amber Fort. The palace was intended as the summer resort for the royal family and is famous for its royal duck shooting parties. Built in 1799, is now abandoned and off the beaten track due to its inaccessibility: there are not boats available at the lake to be hired. However, the view from the shore is simply breathtaking, particularly at sunrise (for a broader view of the lake, the palace and its position see my other posting of this building at dusk). |
