World Trade Center (5)

I took this shot of the World Trade Center a number of years ago and obviously since the dreadful turn of events on Sept. 11th a year later, looking at this image conjurs up feelings of sorrow for me now. I was living with a good friend in NYC that summer and she wasn't familiar with Manhattan so we took the double-decker bus tour around the city. I borrowed her 35mm camera - the make and model of which escapes me now - but it certainly wasn't fancy. As we circled behind the southern part of the towers on the highway at around 35 miles per hour, I pointed the camera skyward and shot this image from the top floor of the moving bus. I like the way the street light balances the rather skewed perspective of the two buildings. This shot doesn't really capture the size of the towers either and if I'm not mistaken, they were the only ones in the United States that had their own zip code.

*This is a repost of the shot as well.. I took a TrekEarth photogapher's advice and bought the program "NeatImage" to smooth out the grain in the sky and it was an excellent suggestion. I ran the photo through the program and the picture looks much better now!
