Clouds Over Marin (2)

It was raining in San Anselmo when I left late in the morning for a trip to the East Bay. Almost immediately upon leaving Marin County the rain ended. It wasn't a sunny day in the East Bay, but glancing back across San Francisco Bay I could see the dark clouds massed above Mount Tamalpais that were dropping more rain on the saturated hills and into fast flowing creeks. I pulled off the freeway to take this photo.

Although it wasn't raining the wind was gusting. After getting hit on the head twice from my trunk lid when I put a lens on the camera I had to brace myself against the lid. The person parked behind where I pulled in must have thought me a mad person to leave my car and brave the heavy winds simply to take a photograph.

I'm facing west with a restaurant called His Lordships at the right with the Berkeley Pier extending to the left. This is part of the Berkeley waterfront I've photographed often. As a footnote to this image I'll post a workshop showing another photo of cleanup in San Anselmo following the flood two days ago. Weather is preoccupying most of us around the Bay Area at the moment, with threatening clouds rolling through more often than any of us would wish.

Happy New Year everyone.

Bloomworks Debris

I posted a nightime photo of Bloomworks some time ago. Now the contents of the flower and gift shop are slowly being placed on the curb, either for cleaning or for disposal. You can see in the street some of the litter that remains. I greatly admire these folks for rolling up their shirt sleeves and digging into the mess, but I can't help but believe there will be much crying and grieving over the great loss they've experienced.
