This is a view from the Wadi Rum desert in the South of Jordan. It is located between Petra and Aqaba even if it's a 30 minutes drive away from the main road to join the entrance of the reserve.
That desert is very appealing with incredible rocks emerging from the sand. I've heard it's a climber paradise with many challenging spots.
I had a walk waiting for the sunset along a dune and found that camel skull. I guess I stayed something like 30 minutes crawiling in the sand and trying to create an attracting compo with the sand dunes, the intense blue sky and that large white skull.
The time I spent in that desert was quite short but it was a very good experience to feel the silence in these large spaces at night.
In fact, I found the place quite busy during the day with many 4-wheel-drive cars on the track but it was a marvel at night.
Following advices from the son of the Bedouin which hosted my wife and I for the night, I even wake up in the middle of the night to get pictures from the desert under the moonlight : an incredible experience.
It's not so often but we made a decision we regretted during that stay in Wadi Rum. To avoid any problem or surprise, we decided to use the services of the official "Visitor center" to visit the desert and spend the night. Apart for the evening with one Beduin which was very nice, we found it was a very expensive touristic package with not so much enthousiasm. Based on the discussions we had with different people, I would rather recommand people visiting Wadi Rum to try to meet local beduin instead and ask for help.
-> I tried a B&W Workshop, please let me know how to improve it, especially because I have some problems to both increase the saturation and leave the sand with enough details and texture...
