The Red Dirt Road (42) pilpel-adom
(2770) | On the same theme as "The Yellow Brick Road", this red dirt road lead up north from San Ignacio toward the edge of the Noel-Kempff Mercado National Park. It was a rough ride, some 14 hours in a 30 year old Jeep into wilderness, with some little hats on the way. On the way the clutch broke down to pieces, the jeep had to cross deep trenches of mud and fallen tree
in the middle of the night, and on the way back the rear-left suspension broke down and a tree log fixed it back in place...A true adventure to the outback of the South American outback, wild Bolivia...
This picture was taken while riding down the road, while half of my body was outside of the jeep, so a high shutter speed was needed here. luckily, it turned out sharp!

(2770) When a clutch break down... Edited by:pilpel-adom
(2770) |
| On our way to the deep of the jungle, suddenly the driver lost the clutch and for an hour and a half they looked for somekind of a replacement for the broken clutch (when you are more than a full day drive from the nearest garage, you better have good mechanical knowledge and a good deal of imagination). You can see the driver under the car, while a good friend of mine, Tim, stands beside the open hood and tried to help as best as he could...Ten minutes after they managed to fix the clutch, it broke down also, and from there on the driver was constantly using the second gear...An adventure, no doubt about it! |

| Here one of the guys had to chop a fallen tree that blocked the road. This shot was taken around 3 am, after 13 hours drive already, hand held at 1/10..it is a bit blurry, but you can feel the motion still |
