While we were waiting for our boat to bring us back into Hoi An this old woman tried to sell us something cold to drink.

You can see her store in the background of the picture.

Did I buy anything from her?
Yes - a coke for me, and water for my girlfriend.

The purpose of this workshop was to make the background light less intense.

1. Open photo in Photoshop Elements 2 and cropped.
2. Desaturated photo.
3. Selected woman, then did Select/Inverse to select background.
4. Adjusted levels on background until the white area appeared less bright.
5. Used burn tool to even out sections between selections.
6. Added an Adjustment Layer and adjusted red, green, and blue levels to give B&W more depth.
7. Merged layers.
8. Applied Unsharip mask.
