 Time Travel (44) Prisley
(1148) | Last week-end were the "days of patrimony", which consist in opening the national patrimony to everybody for free. Usually places that are forbidden to the public during the whole year, are the most visited places these days. But, this time it was the first opening of "Le Grand Palais" since 1993 when government decided to close it for renovation. Thus, to visit it you had to be very patient last week-end...it seemed the all world wanted to come in!
(For my part, I chose to come another day...that's why the picture isn't so crowded).
The Grand Palais, built in 1900, at the same time as the Eiffel Tower is widely composed of iron / steel materials. It was initially a place of art exposure, and later became the place where "cars" were exposed once a year for a couple of days festival.
I hesitated between posting it in B&W or in color...finally I chose color version because I wanted to show the renewal of that place with a spectator that seems to make a time travel in the early days of that place (the shadow man, reading a book as reading history). I wanted a contrast there. I also wanted to show the importance of materials and geometrics, representing this place, that's why I cropped the picture to make the lines more "directive / dynamics".
I also made a B&W version to make my choice. You can see it in the workshop I'll post soon.
Please comment/ critique. Don't hesitate to tell me what isn't right in it and give me advices to improve ;o) |
