This photo was taken among the houses at Runswick Bay. The houses are all built into the cliff-face almost on top of each other. Walking through the streets is like walking through a maze, hence the title; you are so close to the houses you feel as if you are intruding. I wanted to show you this photo as is shows several things; the width of the streets, the levels of houses(here you can see three levels ahead, and the house on the right has a floor below just to say in shot) and the top of the cliff behind.
More information about Runswick bay is in the note with yesterday's post.
Another similar shot is in the WS

Another view just so you can get more of a feel for this place. At the end of the street are steps to the next level. There doesn't appear to be any overall plan; it's all very higgledy-piggledy, and not all the walls are vertical as you see.
