Travelling through China one can sometimes see these precious and wonderful birds caged in equally ornate, yet smallish cages. Not until Tibet did the scene change a little.
This shot was taken in a Tibetan restaurant of the Old Shigatse, a Tibetan town. There were cages lined up near the windows to which the tenants returned after a day of snatching morsels from eager diners. This pair is sitting on a couch end. The couches served as Restaurant seats; the floor of the place was uneven stone paved on dirt; a most colourful interior with numerous fabrics and patterns.
This is an extract scan from the original photo which included more of the surrounding couch and background wall upon which hung a print of a grassy steppe.
