This photograph is taken towards a direction of Meiji street from the Ōkubo passage facing to Shin-Ōkubo Station contiguous to Shinjuku. It is known as a Korean town in Tokyo this whole place, and many Korean shops stand in a row in the alley which goes as the both sides which faced as Ōkubo passage and the back alley connecting to syokuan street. The food supermarket, the clothes store, the cafe, entertainments goods, etc. are establishing eaves centering on nearly 200 Korean restaurants. It is a peculiar atmosphere. It is said for it to be the foundation of Shin-Ōkubo Korean town that the Korean resident in Japan and the migrant worker from South Korea who work for the factory of Lotte begun to live together in a concentrated community, since the factory of Lotte which is a korean company in Japan at the postwar period begun the business in this toen. Because it was a holiday on Saturday on that day, many people were coming to this place.
