A picturesque facade of Khampa Tagong Si Monastery at Tagong, simply a beautiful peaceful little place lies in a remote mountainous Western Sichuan, part of the Greater Tibet then. Home to proud native Khampas community who occupy a string of flat bottomed valleys on a 3700m high plateau all surrounded by magnificent snow peaks.
An amazing landscape, a vast expanse of green meadow lying beneath the sacred Yallah Mountain and dotted with Khampas herdsmen, yaks, tents, alpine flowers and prayer flags. A very wild-west kind of Khampa town, thick with monks and pilgrims. This region was occupied and absorbed into the PRC by the Hammer & Sickle some sixty years ago.
